First exclusive partnership: Gebrüder Mayer takes over Saarland

Cargo Trans Logistik AG (CTL) is taking a historic step: Spedition Gebrüder Mayer GmbH & Co. KG from Zweibrücken is the first company within the CTL network to be given exclusive responsibility. Since August of this year, the long-established company has been responsible for all general cargo transport in Saarland.

A strong signal for reliability and growth
“The importance of stable network coverage with market-driven transit times and high quality is greater than ever. With the first exclusive partnership in our company’s history, we are sending a clear signal for reliability, quality, and strategic growth in an increasingly volatile market,” explains Francesco De Lauso, CEO of CTL AG. The agreement with Gebrüder Mayer is designed to be long-term. This gives the CTL network greater stability, and both partners benefit from a reliable, exclusive collaboration – to the advantage of the entire network. Heinz-Joachim Mayer, managing director of the family-owned company, also sees clear advantages in this: “Now we can calculate with defined, fairly constant quantities of freight that we handle daily in Saarland. We no longer need to worry that the CTL network will suddenly bring in other partners. At the same time, CTL knows that we do not move goods for other cooperations.”

Gebrüder Mayer: Tradition and future in family hands
The Gebrüder Mayer freight forwarding company has been a member and shareholder of CTL for 25 years – it was founded back in 1912. Today, the company is run by Heinz-Joachim and Sven Mayer, the fifth generation of the family. Wife and mother Anke Mayer is responsible for accounting, while around 75 employees take care of transport, storage, and logistics solutions. With 43 company-owned trucks, a modern racking system for around 500 pallet spaces, and a 1,000-square-meter block warehouse, the freight forwarder offers customized logistics services at its Zweibrücken location. In addition to traditional general cargo and volume transport, the portfolio also includes warehouse logistics and customized customer solutions. With this exclusive partnership, CTL is deliberately focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises. “This not only strengthens our network coverage, but also secures the future viability of family businesses that have been supporting our industry for decades,” emphasizes De Lauso.

Networking at the highest level
Founded in 1993, the CTL network now brings together around 200 medium-sized freight forwarders in Europe. Shipments are distributed radially via six strategic logistics centers, including the main transshipment hall at CTL’s headquarters in Homberg/Efze. Within Germany, general cargo usually reaches its destination within 24 to 48 hours. This network also plays a central role for Gebrüder Mayer: every day, two loaded trucks travel from Zweibrücken to Homberg/Efze, where goods from the Saarland and the southwestern Palatinate are distributed throughout Europe. Further transports regularly go to the CTL center in Grolsheim.

A milestone for CTL and Gebrüder Mayer
With the first exclusive partnership in the company’s history, CTL is creating clear responsibilities, reliable structures, and planning security. At the same time, the network is sending a strong signal: CTL remains a network for small and medium-sized businesses – with partners who embody values such as reliability, quality, and tradition.
