Space expansion at HUB Homberg
In order to cope with our growing volume and continue to optimally meet the increasing demands for efficient supply chains, we are expanding our space at the central HUB in Homberg. With a new truck access road, 50 additional trailer parking spaces, and digital processes, we can handle operations on our premises even faster—which also benefits our partners.
Additional space for growth and innovation at the HUB Homberg
“Efficiency in loading and unloading does not begin at the ramp, but in the yard – with clear processes, short distances, and a well-designed infrastructure,” says our CEO Francesco De Lauso. The expansion of our space is an important step in keeping pace with our own growth and continuously developing our processes. “By continuously optimizing goods handling on our premises, we remain reliable and forward-looking, as our partners have come to expect from us,” De Lauso continues.
Truck “fast lane” already showing results
We are currently testing a new process on the premises: fully digital gate management. Trucks register as they approach, receive information about their parking space or gate, and can drive directly onto the premises thanks to license plate recognition. This allows us to significantly reduce both waiting times and manual processes. With our existing access road, this “fast lane” procedure has only been usable to a limited extent so far – thanks to the expansion of our premises, significantly more vehicles will soon be able to be integrated into site operations.
Thanks to digitalized gate management and the new trailer parking spaces near the warehouse, our partners also benefit from shorter distances on our premises. This allows us to increase the speed of goods handling: throughput times for moving trailers are reduced and the loading processes are significantly accelerated. This will enable us and our partners to meet the growing demands of the general cargo market.
Preparations for construction are in full swing
We are looking forward to starting construction work on the site expansion in the near future: the supervisory board has already given its approval and the building application has been submitted. The tender for the construction work is also underway. We are financing our investment, which is in the mid-seven-figure range, entirely from our own liquidity. We are therefore confident that construction work will start this year and that the project can be successfully completed by spring 2026.
Own electric truck charging park
Our expansion in Homberg also lays the foundation for another forward-looking project: we are creating our own charging park for electric trucks there. The necessary 2.5 megawatts of power has already been allocated by the local grid operator. Our CFO Abraham Garcia Martinez explains: “With the expansion of our site, we are now starting to plan our own charging infrastructure in earnest, taking an important step towards more sustainable logistics processes.” This means we are optimally equipped for the future.
