Product Launch – CTL Parcel

Cargo Trans Logistik AG (CTL) is expanding its service portfolio to include a new parcel size: from 3 August 2026, the general cargo network will offer its own parcel service for both B2B and B2C sectors. This enables CTL to bridge the gap between general cargo and small parcels without partners or shippers needing new interfaces, separate labels or dedicated billing channels. Through its integration with the existing network infrastructure and an established European CEP network, CTL handles parcel shipments of up to 20 kilograms – including dangerous goods on request – with a standard transit time of 48 hours.

“General cargo is and remains our core business – but our partners have been telling us for years that their customers are asking for a parcel solution from the same provider. With CTL Parcel, we are now providing that solution,” says Francesco De Lauso, CEO of CTL. A network survey conducted in 2025 confirms the demand: 72 percent of the partners surveyed who did not have their own parcel product expressed an interest in a corresponding solution via the CTL network. The launch is therefore a direct response to the demand within the network and, at the same time, a logical strategic expansion in the growing B2B segment of the German CEP market.

One more parcel size – without any operational changes

CTL Parcel has been deliberately designed so that partners can benefit from the new product with minimal effort. Parcels are transported via the existing night-time routes to the central hub in Homberg, where they are physically and technically prepared for handover to the CEP network. “We wanted to create a product that works without new IT, without a separate interface and without placing any additional strain on core operational processes. That is exactly what we have achieved with CTL Parcel,” explains De Lauso. Billing also takes place via the regular CTL clearing system, which represents a significant difference from traditional multi-contract solutions. As with general cargo, parcel tracking is also carried out entirely within the familiar CTL system.

Thinking ahead step by step

Following the market launch on 3 August 2026, an initial product review with the network partners is planned for the end of September. In the second quarter of 2027, CTL’s Tariff and Product Commission will decide on possible extensions, such as collection upon delivery, time slot options, processing via regional hubs or the integration of further countries, including overseas destinations. “With CTL Parcel, we are entering a segment where the growth potential is equally high for our partners and for CTL. We are taking a step-by-step approach – with the necessary attention to quality that our partners and shippers expect from us,” summarises De Lauso.
