100 years of tradition & innovation – the forwarding company Kiessling celebrates its anniversary!

The Donau-Speditions-Gesellschaft Kiessling mbH & Co. KG is 100! The owner-managed family business in ist fourth generation was able to look back on a century of company history last year.

A century of company history

The success story of Kiessling began 1920 with founder Ludwig Kiessling, who laid the foundation for a modern and innovative logistics company with Danube ship transports to the black sea. Today, Miriam Kiessling is the fourth generation to run the company together with her uncle Josef Kiessling. The family has remained loyal to the Danube region. After more than 70 years in Regensburg, today’s logistics centre north of Regensburg in Regenstauf was put into operation in 1994 and continously eypanded. Today, 200 employees work on the company premises, which now cover 47,000 square metres, and ensure the flow of goods around the globe by road, air and sea.

Even overnight, customers with time-critical orders in particular, e. g. in spare parts logistics, can count on a special service that enables deliveries by 8 a.m. at the latest within Germany and to neighbouring countires through the partnership with Night Star Express.

Furthermore, the compan has developed ino a specialist in the field of dangerous goods logistics over past decades. For ist customers on the agricultural and chemical industires fright forwarder Kiessling not only provides transport to the end customer but also stores hazardous materials in almost all VCI storage classes. For this purpose, 17,000 pallet spaces are available in the company’s own hazardous materials warehouse. The direct connection to the logistics centre enables a real time advantage in the furhter dispatch of the goods.

Since 2018, this branch has also been complemented by a completely new service: with a state-of-the-art laboratory, filling and decanting work for example for test samples, is carried out primarily for customers in the agrochemical industry and then shipped on directly. A real value-added service. “Developing innovative and flexible solutions for the customer’s needs with and for the customer – that’s what we see as our guiding principle and the real customer added value!” emphasises Miriam Kiessling, management of the fright forwarder Kiessling. On this basis, the Regenstaufen-based company offers so-called value-added services in addition to its general logistics portfolio, such as warehousing, order picking and the transport of goods. Taking overlabelling and packaging work, packaging, display construction or IT-side consulting and support for software-supported logistics solutions are some examples.

“In addition to offering innovatively oriented services, satisfied emplyees are also crucial for the long-term success of our company. It takes their creative ideas and commitment to constantly develop our customer offering and thus our entire company,” Miriam Kiessling explains further.

Family-concious employer and top training company

As a family-run copmpany, Kiessling Spedition therefore attaches particular importance to “family” and the best possible work-life balance. In addition to a trusting and personal working atmosphere, the company attaches particular importance to working out individual solutions for every life situation together with its employees. Flexible working time models, part-time training or home office points are some examples. For this, Kiessling-Spedition has already recieved several awards as a family-friendly employer. In addition, the logistics company is involved in various networks of family-friendly companies in order to furhter expand its family-concious personnel policy in the future.

“The promotion of young talent is particularly close to our hearts. We want to continue to develop our services at the cutting edge and offer our customers innovative solutions. This requires top trained professionals. For years, we have therefore relied heavily on the vocational training of our own junior staff. Many former trainees have already become long-term employees and have meanwhile taken on management tasks in the company,” explains Miriam Kiessling. The fact that training at Kiessling-Spedition paves the way for a successful career is shown by both regional and national competitions and rankings of the best training companies, in which the company always secures good placements. Kiessling-Spedition offers five different apprenticeships as well as a part-time course of study with a focus on logistics. On average, 25 young people are trained in these specialist areas at the same time and optimally prepared for their careers in the growth market of logistics.
