Maier Logistics Opens Sustainable Logistics Center in Singen

Innovation on 38,000 Square Meters

Our long-time partner, Maier Logistics, recently celebrated the opening of its new logistics center in Singen after 18 months of construction. The innovative two-story building offers advanced logistics solutions and emphasizes sustainability. Notably, it is one of the first two-story logistics buildings in the region, significantly reducing the amount of land required compared to single-story properties.

Highlight: Direct Rail Connection

Maier Logistics, a subsidiary of the Swiss company Planzer, now offers numerous services in Singen, including unloading, recording, storage, management, picking, packaging, labeling, on-packing, fulfillment, and returns management. In addition to sustainable construction, the company is focusing on combined transport. Therefore, the logistics center has a direct rail connection to shift goods from road to rail. This connection aligns with the strategy of the parent company Planzer, which already handles 60 percent of goods in Swiss domestic transport via low-emission rail. There is also the possibility of delivering overseas containers by rail through the neighboring HUPAC network to reduce truck traffic as much as possible.

Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient

The building is characterized by its environmentally friendly features. The roof is green and equipped with a photovoltaic system that covers most of the energy needs of the logistics center. With an estimated self-sufficiency rate of about 70 percent throughout the year, Maier Logistics sets new standards in energy efficiency in the logistics industry. An installed heat pump, as well as other energy-efficient facilities such as LED lighting and electrically operated conveyor systems, ensure that the new property is operated as sustainably as possible.
