CrefoZert certifies stability and excellent creditworthiness

CTL Cargo Trans Logistik AG is a general cargo cooperation for freight forwarders that offers customised solutions for the transport of goods throughout Germany and Europe. The AG’s transhipment centres act as HUBs and collection points for the affiliated cooperation partners. With its close-meshed and comprehensive network of currently 180 system partners and a geographically favourable HUB structure, CTL ensures short distances and the bundling of consignments for the benefit of utilised, cost-efficient and economically sensible shipments. In addition to the main handling facility in Homberg/Efze, the HUB-and-Spoke system comprises five regional handling centres.

The regional presence achieves time and cost savings in the delivery of goods and thus a nationwide flexible capacity to act for the logistics partners. The partnerships with renowned forwarding companies promote the reliably coordinated transport of goods. Through a specially developed and future-oriented IT system, the company offers its partners’ customers a seamless tracking system of the goods in real time.

Increasing shipment volumes and new products
The two years 2021 and 2022 were dominated by the CTL quality offensive. In 2021, the general cargo cooperation was able to take advantage of the high shipment volumes on the market and increased its shipment volume by 14 percent and its turnover by 18 percent. A total of around 2.5 million consignments were transported. In the course of this, CTL opened a new eastern HUB in Leipzig in order to realise the basis of maximum, national area coverage. In addition, the two new products “CTL Home” and “CTL Handel” were introduced to meet the increasing demand for delivery to end customers and the connection to retail warehouses.

The year 2022 also got off to a positive start for CTL: the West-HUB was opened in Düsseldorf to serve the Cologne-Bonn metropolitan region even better. In addition, the general cargo cooperation introduced bonus payments for its partners to reward those who, among other things, demonstrate particularly high service quality. “We are convinced that the network and our partners can always improve their quality. With our new system we want to reward the very good work,” says CTL board member Francesco De Lauso. Thus, from January to August, a total of 800,000 euros was distributed to 89 partner companies.

Stability despite challenges
However, the start of the Ukraine war in February 2022 and the resulting rise in inflation, skyrocketing prices and decline in consignments also created major challenges for CTL. For example, the volume of consignments for 2022 fell by around four percent compared to the previous year. However, this was accompanied by a significant improvement in delivery quality in the second half of the year compared to the previous year. Fixed-date items in particular experienced an increase. CTL was also able to successively increase the number of partners, reaching the 180 mark for the first time in 2023. “Our focus in these uncertain times is particularly on network security and stability. Our partners can rely on our close-meshed network,” says De Lauso.

Despite the large investments made for the expansion, CTL Cargo Trans Logistik AG has an excellent balance sheet rating as well as an outstanding credit rating this year as before, thus fulfilling all certification criteria for the CrefoZert.

High payment security through excellent creditworthiness
With this award, companies receive certification that their business conduct is impeccable and the outlook for the future is very positive. “These two very different years have also presented us at CTL and our partners with great challenges. That is why we are particularly proud to have been awarded the CrefoZert,” says De Lauso.
